A Valley So Low is a nonfiction book by Jared Sullivan that tells the story of the legal fight that followed the massive 2008 coal ash spill in Kingston, Tennessee. The book follows a local lawyer, Jim Scott, as he takes on the powerful Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the cleanup company on behalf of the cleanup workers who became sick from exposure to the toxic sludge. Scott's legal battle revealed that the cleanup company had ignored safety protocols, threatened workers, and hidden test results. It's a tale of a legal underdog fighting against a massive corporation for justice for the victims of an environmental disaster.
